Immigration Reform & Whiteboard Explainers
The White House created a whiteboard video a few weeks ago about Immigration Reform. It was a great video for several reasons:
1. it speaks directly to us, the viewers.
2. it’s informative and educational
3. it involves us in discovering what went on in the decision-making process
4. it’s understandable
We mostly think of explainer videos as useful for businesses and content, but seeing the White House sponsor an explainer video is an eye-opening experience. It’s delightfully engaging. I didn’t realize how far into it I had gotten until it ended. The graphics, text, music, and voice-over all work together to make it into a great and interesting video that is actually relevant to us.
As a marketing tool, the White House Whiteboard video excels. By using an educational and informative video, the White House makes a connection with the viewer that would not have happened otherwise. The voice-over explanation is simple enough that the average citizen can understand it.
Although we could have watched somebody explain the economic benefits of immigration reform to us, or read a couple of articles on the subject, the explainer video was the best choice for communicating the information. Immigration reform could be very confusing and theoretical, but seeing it animated was informative, educational, understandable, and interesting.
