The Restaurant Video As Window
This past week I met a local website development company owner at a social function in South Austin. I mentioned that my company does online video marketing, and, as usually happens when these meetings occur, we quickly started talking shop. A little while into the conversation, he mentioned that he was working with a video production company that specializes exclusively in restaurant videos. I told him that I hadn’t heard of a business exclusively focusing on that niche, but that I thought restaurants were ideal clients for website videos.
The reason restaurants websites make such good candidates for web videos is the importance of atmosphere and setting to the dining experience. Potential diners online aren’t just looking for great food. They’re looking for a great place to eat. And the only sure way to have complete confidence in the place you’re about to eat is to visit it. Restaurant videos let diners visit beforehand.
The logic of it is compelling for any type of establishment. Whether you’re family-friendly (and your video shows that young children making some noise is OK) or a sports bar (and your video shows that your full of lively fans every Sunday) or that your setting overlooking the river is just perfect for fine dining. Whatever the case, if you’ve invested in creating an atmosphere that works for your type of diner, it makes sense to let as many of those types of diners visit your restaurant as possible.
