The Most Attractive Online Marketing Medium

No doubt you saw the report last spring from Social Media Examiner that surveyed 3,800 marketers, and 76% cited YouTube and video marketing as their top areas of investment for marketing purposes. For the second year in a row, online video marketing beat out Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and even traditional blogging. When asked if they planned to do just the opposite and decrease their video marketing efforts, only 1% of respondents said ‘yes’.

It’s the worst-kept secret of the recession; online video is the hottest trend in content marketing, and it seems to be getting hotter in 2013.  Why?  As we pointed out last week, online video production costs have dropped through the floor.  It has to be the most effective way to spend your advertising dollar in the social media marketplace.

 

Sell, Educate and Entertain

So which of the Big 3 reasons got you into online video marketing?  To sell, to educate, or entertain?  Video can do it all, and look really cool while doing it!  Marketers sell with video to promote products, features, services or brands.  We educate with video to share tips, ideas, and commentary.  And we entertain with our videos…boy do we ever…to deliver content that’s light, humorous, fun, and effective.  If you’re an online video marketing pro, I’ll bet you do all three without even knowing it, and without having the door slammed on your foot by the customer!

That’s the other great thing about online video marketing.  You’re almost always welcome at the customer’s door.  They’re familiar with your sales methods before they even meet you, and they’re not afraid to tap Play to learn something new, or check out your product, or share a laugh with your team.

Online video marketing is a great place to be these days….right at the tip of the spear.
